HEALEY DRIVER INTERNATIONAL -  2005 RACING RULES

1.  SPORTING REGULATIONS  - GENERAL

1.1  Title and Jurisdiction:

The races are organised under the jurisdiction of Healey Driver International (a centre of the Austin Healey Club Limited of England) in accordance with the general prescriptions of the Federation Internationale de L'Automobile (FIA) and these supplementary regulations.

1.3  Competitor Eligibility:

1.3.1  Drivers and Entrants/Drivers must be fully paid up members of the Austin Healey Club Healey Driver International (HDI) Centre and in possession of a competition licence of MSA International Historic Race or FIA H2 status or greater, or a valid licence issued by the ASN of a member country of the EEC.

1.3.2  The races are only open to cars of the marque 'Healey' and 'Austin-Healey' and should possess FIA or HDI Historic Vehicle Identity Forms.    

1.3.3  All necessary documentation must be presented for inspection at each race race when signing on and also to an eligibility scrutineer when requested.

1.4  Races:

1.4.1 Each race is a 'stand alone' invitational event, organised by the individual racing clubs who are organising the international race meeting or non-championship race.

1.4.1 All entries will be treated on a 'first come' basis.

2.   ELIGIBILITY INFRINGEMENTS & PENALTIES

2.1  Eligibility:

2.1.1  Any competitor found to be infringing the technical regulations will undergo the following procedure:

         First InfringementRear of starting grid with a 10 second penalty.

         Second Identical InfringementNot allowed to start the race.

         Third Identical Infringement:  12 months ban on racing in any HDI race.

2.1.2  Infringements arising from post practice scrutineering, the following applies; The driver will start from the rear of the grid with a 10 second penalty.

2.1.3  Infringements arising from post race scrutineering will result in the Final Results being amended and any awards must be returned to HDI within 21 days after the publication of the final result.

3.  TECHNICAL REGULATIONS

3.1  Introduction.

3.1.1  The following technical regulations are set out in accordance with the FIA format, and it should be clearly understood that if the following does not clearly specify that you can do it, you should work on the principle THAT YOU CANNOT.

3.1.2  The following technical regulations are in addition to FIA Appendix K sporting regulations.  Any rules not specifically set out below are covered by the FIA appendix K rules, which shall be the rule for HDI races.

3.2  General Description:  

The Healey Driver International races are open to competitors participating in Healey and Austin Healey vehicles complying to FIA Homologation forms.

3.3  Safety Requirements:   All FIA safety criteria is relevant.

3.4  General Technical Requirements and Exceptions:

3.4.1  All members competing must have up to date membership to the Austin Healey Club Limited HDI centre. Anyone found not to be a member will be suspended from taking part in the race/s.  Membership cards should be available for inspection.

3.4.2   There will be three classes and all cars must possess FIA Identity forms.

           Class 1   GTS/GTP ( see article 3.4.4. ) 6 cylinder cars         

           Class 2   GTS  4 cylinder  cars

           Class 3   Invitation Class

3.4.3   Class 1  GTS/P - All six cylinder cars to be prepared to the original 1961 homologation for the Tri-Carb         Healey 3000 Mk2 - form number 57 - GTS category.

          Class 2  100/4  Run to RAC Form of Recognition for the Austin Healey 100.

          Class 3  At the discretion of the organisers.

3.5  Chassis:   For all classes, the Chassis must be to original Healey specification.

3.6  Bodywork:  

All cars must be panelled in original materials, i.e. steel and aluminium only, no GRP or other materials allowed. The silhouette and the profile of the car must be as original.

3.7  Engine:

3.7.1  Classes 1and 2 to FIA forms

3.7.2  Class 2,  may use Aluminium cylinder head.

3.8  Suspensions:

3.8.1  All classes to RAC Form 57, 100/4 Form of Recognition and Warwick cars as original.  Minimum ground clearance 100mm.

3.8.2  Max. front track width:                                        Max. rear track width:

3.9  Transmissions:

3.9.1   All classes to RAC Form 57, 100/4 to Form of Recognition and Warwick cars as original, gearboxes as original, (100/6 and early 3000 can run centre change box.)

3.10.  Electrics:

3.10.1  For all classes, all exterior lights must be working.

3.10.2  For all classes a rear fog light is mandatory in accordance with FIA Yellow book rules.

3.11  Brakes:

3.11.1  All classes to RAC Form 57, 100/4 Form of Recognition, Warwick Healeys as original.

3.12  Wheels:

3.12.1  For all classes - max. rim width 5.5 inches, diameter 15 inches only. NO OFFSET RIMS.

3.12.2  For all classes - wheel types allowed - Wire / Steel / Alloy

3.3  Tyres:

3.13.1  For classes 1 and 2 - tyres must comply with FIA Appendix K  rules 15.1 and 15.2.   Only Dunlop CR65 or earlier tread pattern, 500 or 550 size, of 'L' section and in 204 compound can be used.  All cars run to Homologation paper 57.   'M' sections are not allowed even on period  'F' - BJ7 or BJ8 cars.

3.13.2  The use of tyre heating/ heat retention devices, tyre treatments and compounds, is prohibited.

3.14  Fuel Tank/Fuel:

3.14.1 For all classes - Location and size of fuel tank to be in accordance with FIA Identity forms and to latest safety rules.

3.14.2  Fuel must be in accordance with latest FIA general rules.

3.15  Weight:

3.15.1  For all classes, the weight of the vehicle must not be less than the minimum homologated weight;  3000 and 100/6 - 1032kg.   100/4 - 987kg. and Warwick Healey as original.            

3.16  Numbers:

3.16.1  Numbers will be issued to each competitor for each race and it is the competitors responsibility to affix the correct numbers to the car.

3.16.2   Numbers are to be displayed on each door of the car, and also on the bonnet.      

3.16.3   Numbers must be Black on a White background.
